What's this?

This is where I recommend my favorite things.

Mostly media, it's a tight list of the things that I have found impactful and worthwhile. (And isn't something that is already recommended heavily already. i.e. no Game of Thrones)

Blogs/Articles

**Crony Beliefs** - I believe that one of the crucial issues of our time is one of epistemology. This excellently written article gets at the heart of it.

**Can Our Democracy Survive Tribalism?** - Another great issue of our time, how tribal identities are creating our turbulent society, and what we might do about it.

**The Confessions of Marcus Hitchens** - Great journalism and storytelling that uses cybersecurity as a lens to view issues like growing up in the digital age.

The Tyranny of Convenience - Short and sweet, this article did a lot to shape a lot of my philosophy about how so much of modern life has become soulless.

Mental Models - This new mode of thinking sent me down a rabbit hole that I haven't yet emerged from. If you haven't heard of or used mental models yet, start right away.

How To Be Successful - It's what most of us are after, and Sam Altman would know better than most what it takes in today's world. The wisdom of this piece reveals itself to me as I go on in life.

Doing The Work Is Enough - When it comes to being a creator and finding the right mindset, this post helped me tremendously.

Podcasts

The Dollop - They laugh at their own jokes and insert some of their politics too often but this has been a go-to for me for a long time. One comedian reads a piece of little-known history to his friend, another comedian. The reactions, the improv, the ridiculousness. I laugh and learn a lot.

The Knowledge Project - There's no fat on these interviews that Shane Parish does with some of the top experts and performers around the world. Just actionable insights and advice.

No Such Thing As A Fish - Weird title (context), but always a fun listen. 4 researchers share their favorite facts of the week in an entertaining, educational, and engaging way. I'm a anglophile so this one makes the list.

**You Are Not So Smart** - David McRainey, self-described psychology obsessive, puts together fantastic episodes that walk-through the mental processes that trip us all up when it comes to biases, logic, beliefs, etc.

**The Rich Roll Podcast** - I think this pod's best episodes were circa 2016-19 but I have tremendous respect for the work Rich does to talk about issues like addiction, mental health, environmental and social decay, finding your path, etc. If you need inspiration for any change, check it out.
